The notice of termination is a unilateral declaration of intent that must be received. It is a creative right, i.e. it directly shapes a legal relationship, i.e. it establishes, terminates or changes it. Termination serves to end continuing obligations, such as employment contracts, tenancy agreements or service contracts. Basically, a distinction is made between ordinary and extraordinary (without notice) termination.

Relevant in labour law are dismissal for operational reasons, dismissal for behavioural reasons and dismissal for personal reasons.
